Kinchoi Lam’s new work pays tribute to the professional roller skater Katherine Choi and her mother. With the temporary closure of public sports facilities during the pandemic, Choi has had to constantly fin new places to practice roller skating, including sneaking into parks before sunrise in her mom’s company. Lam finds similarities between Choi’s skating and his own drawing practice - both possibly leading to freedom once a concentrated state is reached.
